Spirit of the Policy

Our Adult Sexual Solicitation and Sexually Explicit Language policy are in place to restrict content that is sexually explicit in nature and/or maybe posted and directly or indirectly make another individual uncomfortable because of its sexual nature. We do this because we, at Medal, understand that this type of content can be sensitive to some individuals, particularly because of our user's age and cultural backgrounds. We also default to removing sexually explicit content to prevent the sharing of non-consensual or underage content, which can be viewed further in our Child Exploitation guidelines.

Principles and Rational

Rational

We understand that acceptance and change in how the world views sexual content and sexually explicit language can change over time. We also understand that sexually explicit language may be shared for a variety of reasons, including for protest and to share to raise or gain awareness to a cause, or instances, where this type of language may have been used against the individual and is being shared, is a reported instance of this. However, we take all instances into account prior to the removal of the content to ensure that we are not silencing any issues.

Principles

The goal of our Community Standards is to encourage expression and create a safe environment for our users. While we understand that sexual content can be a discussion, learning or expressive point for men, our company principles are to ensure that the content is shared in an appropriate manner that is safe for all of our community.

Safety

Safety is an essential factor in community building. At Medal, we are dedicated to removing content that encourages or causes real-world harm, including (but not limited to) physical, emotional, or financial injury as well as privacy violations that could harm a targeted individual(s).

Voice:

We embrace the different backgrounds and diverse views of our community. We want to provide a platform and opportunity for users to not only share their gaming experience but build lasting bonds with one another. We err on the side of allowing content, even when some find it objectionable unless removing that content cant prevent real-world harm to the user. We vow to discuss and consider allowing content that otherwise violates our stands if we deem it to be newsworthy, or important to the public interest based on global and national trends.

Equity:

We recognize the diverse backgrounds of our community from around the world. It's important for us, at Medal, to keep our policies broad in order to apply them consistently and fairly based on an ever-adapting global culture. Because our community standards must transcend cultural, regional, and linguistic barriers, we recognize the need for a broad but consistent standard. Because of the broadness of our policies, in some cases, and when provided with additional context, we will have to make decisions based on the spirit, as opposed to the letter, of the policy.
