Medal is whitelisted in most big anti-virus software, but sometimes, things happen, and Medal may get picked up as a virus from your virus-protection software.

Why would Medal be detected as a virus? Is it not safe?

Medal is 100% safe!

Anti-Virus programs look for patterns that common virus' show and rely on a database to know what programs are and are not safe. If a program is not in the database, the anti-virus defaults to thinking it is a virus, even when it is 100% safe to use.

This is known as a false-positive.

Medal injects into your games so that it can give you an overlay and capture your gameplay. Injection is a common method for recorders, mods and other programs (EG. BakkesMod for Rocket League) and this is what the anti-virus finds.

If you discover that Medal is being detected as a virus within your protection software, let us know! We can reach out to the virus-protection teams to get Medal whitelisted, but this can take time.
