Spirit of the Policy

To encourage safety and compliance with common legal restrictions, we prohibit attempts by individuals, manufacturers, and retailers to purchase, sell, or trade non-medical drugs, pharmaceutical drugs, and marijuana. We also prohibit the purchase, sale, gifting, exchange, and transfer of firearms, including firearm parts or ammunition, between private individuals on Medal. We understand that laws and regulations may vary from state to state and country to country, which is why we at Medal have used a broad stroke to enforce our Regulated Goods policy across the board, no matter the location.

Principles and Rational

Rational
At Medal, our goal is to keep our users as safe as possible. This includes preventing the sale of illegal substances and items on our platform. While we recognize that some of these items are not regulated everywhere; however, because of the borderless nature of our community, we try to enforce our policies as consistently as possible. Firearm stores and online retailers may promote items available for sale off of our services as long as those retailers comply with all applicable laws and regulations. We allow discussions about sales of firearms and firearm parts in stores or by online retailers and advocate for changes to firearm regulation.


Principles
The goal of our Community Standards is to encourage expression and create a safe environment. We base our policies on input from our community and from experts in fields such as technology and public safety. Our policies are also rooted in the following principles:


Safety

Safety: Safety is an essential factor in community building. At Medal, we are dedicated to removing content that encourages or causes real-world harm, including (but not limited to) physical, emotional, or financial injury as well as privacy violations that could harm a targeted individual(s).


Voice
We embrace the different backgrounds and diverse views of our community. We want to provide a platform and opportunity for users to not only share their gaming experience but build lasting bonds with one another. We err on the side of allowing content, even when some find it objectionable unless removing that content cant prevent real-world harm to the user. We vow to discuss and consider allowing content that otherwise violates our stands if we deem it to be newsworthy, or important to the public interest based on global and national trends. 


Equity
We recognize the diverse backgrounds of our community from around the world. It's important for us, at Medal, to keep our policies broad in order to apply them consistently and fairly based on an ever-adapting global culture. Because our community standards must transcend cultural, regional, and linguistic barriers, we recognize the need for a broad but consistent standard. Because of the broadness of our policies, in some cases, and when provided with additional context, we will have to make decisions based on the spirit, as opposed to the letter, of the policy

Policy

This type of content violates our policy and is therefore not allowed on our platform.

  1. Content about non-medical drugs (other than alcohol or tobacco) that:
    1. Co-ordinates or encourages others to sell non-medical drugs.
    2. Depicts, admits to, attempts purchase, or promotes sales of non-medical drugs by the poster of the content or their associates.
    3. Speaks positively, encourages, coordinates, or provides instructions for use or make non-medical drugs.
    4. Written or verbal admissions to personal use of non-medical drugs, UNLESS the content is posted in a recovery context.

  2. Marijuana and pharmaceutical drugs:
    1. That attempts to buy, sell, trade, donate, gift, or solicit real marijuana or pharmaceutical drugs.

  3. Alcohol or Tobacco
    1. That attempts to buy, sell, trade, donate, gift or solicit real alcohol or tobacco from a non-brick and mortar entity.

  4. Live animals
    1. That attempts to buy, sell, trade, donate, gift, or solicit real live animals.

  5. Weight loss products
    1. That attempts to buy, sell, trade, donate, gift, or solicit weight loss products.

  6. Firearms and weapons
    1. That attempts to buy, sell, trade, donate, gift, or solicit firearms or weapons such as (but not limited to);
      1. Firearms,
      2. Firearm parts,
      3. Ammunition,
      4. Explosives,

Allow

This type of content does not violate our community standards and is therefore allowed on our platform.

  1. Non-medical drugs:

    1. Debating the legality or scientific use of non-medical drugs.

  2. Marijuana and pharmaceutical drugs:

    1. Depicting or celebrating the use or production of either.

  3. Alcohol or Tobacco

    1. Depicting or celebrating the use or production of either.

  4. Live animals

    1. Offering rewards for lost pets;
    2. Debating the legality or morals of the sale of animals.

  5. Weight loss products

    1. That attempts to buy, sell, trade, donate, gift or solicit weight loss products.

  6. Firearms and weapons

    1. Depicting or celebrating the use or production of;
      1. Firearms,
      2. Firearm parts,
      3. Ammunition,
      4. Explosives,
