How to Capture Discord Voice Chat

Modified on Wed, 1 May at 11:28 AM

One of the best things that comes with gaming is the friends you make along the way! There are often times where you would like to capture your friend's voices in Discord while you are taking a clip. This guide will show you how to add the correct audio source to capture you and your friend's funny discord moments!

Check your Discord Voice Settings

We will first want to check your Discord voice settings to see what audio source Discord is using. To get here, you will want to open Discord > Settings > Voice & Video. At the top you will see a section titled Voice Settings. The devices shown here, are the same devices you will want to set up in Medal.

Setting up your Medal Audio Sources

Now that we know what sources Discord is using, let's use those same sources in Medal. Open up your Medal app and hit the Settings cog. From here, you will want to navigate to the Audio & Camera page in Medal. Refer back to your Discord Voice Settings and set up the same devices in the Medal app. The Input Device on Discord should match the Microphone option in Medal, while the Output Device in Discord should match the Audio Sources option in Medal.

Some headsets have more than one output device built in to use chat and game sound on separate devices. With Medal you can select multiple audio sources, so you can use both outputs on your headset and still capture audio from both Discord and your game.
