How to Screen Record

Screen Recording with Medal.tv


Sometimes you don't want to record your game or you want to capture non-gaming content alongside your game. You can choose to record your entire screen with our Screen Recording feature. This is only available on our Windows Desktop Application

How To Screen Record

*To just record your game, simply open the game and Medal will start recording. Screen recording is good if you want to record non-game content or your game + other 


  1. Open the Medal.tv app
  2. Open the quick settings dropdown
    • In the top left corner of the desktop app, look for the button that says Start Your Game To Record. This button will open the quick settings dropdown, but will not immediately start recording your game or screen.
  3. Choose “Switch to Screen Recording"
    • From the quick recording options, look for the button that says "Switch to Screen Recording". This allows you to record your monitor or a specific display.
      • NOTE: Screen recording will start immediately when you press the "Switch to Screen Recording" button.
      • NOTE: While Screen Recording starts when you press the"Switch" button, "Game Recording" starts as soon as a game launches.
  4. Select the Display
    • Once you switch to Screen Recording, you will see a list of connected displays. Choose the monitor or display you would like to record. The selected display will be highlighted.
  5. Stop Recording
    • To stop screen recording, press the button that says "Stop Screen Recording"
      • If you were in Session Mode, you will see a new video in your library.
        • NOTE: While Screen Recording requires you to press a button to stop recording, "Game Recording" stops as soon as you close your game


  • Adjust Hotkeys (Optional)
    To make recording easier, you can set hotkeys for creating a bookmark for the recording by clicking Manage Hotkeys under the Hotkeys section.


  • Manage Audio Settings (Optional)
    You can choose whether to record your microphone or other audio sources by toggling the microphone option and selecting the desired audio source from the dropdown menu under Audio Settings.


  • Go to Settings (Optional)
    For additional customization, you can go to Settings > Clips & Recording > Screen Recording to tweak other recording preferences.
